"I am Nathaniel Manheru and Cde Chix inpired me to write the column," said the presidential spokesperson at the funeral wake of Cde Chinx in Harare.

The close Zimbabweans came to know of the character behind the pen name was in 2015, when he wrote: "After leaving university, he says, he joined the government as an information liaison officer for the then State President, Canaan Banana.

It was then gathered that George Charamba was Banana’s last spokesman and joined the new President’s Office when Banana stepped down to give way to a new executive president, Robert Mugabe.

As attendants at the funeral clapped after his speech, many are still wondering why Manheru finally decided to disclose his real identity, and why he chose such a pseudo name in the first instance.
