Teko Modise: Mamelodi Sundowns Locked in Negotiations

Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly in contractual talks with Teko Modise regarding his future at the Brazilians, but signs show that he may stay for another season at Chloorkop.

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder's contract ends this month, but the club has an option for a further extension. Jazzman Mahlakgane, Modise's representative maintains talks are still ongoing.

“We are still in negotiations with Sundowns and there is no timeline with regards to negotiations,” Mahlakgane told Kickoff.

at 35, Modise remains a natural leader, especially in the dressing room. To date, he has featured in 21 games in all competitions this season.

Though Modise earlier this year hinted that he would leave upon the expiry of his contract, the onus is on the club to make the final call as they are still within their rights to exercise his one-year option.

CAF Champions League group stages matches will come thick in July, meaning the club will have to decide before the end of the month regarding the former Bafana Bafana international, who arrived at Chloorkop from Orlando Pirates in January 2011 amid aplomb and much anticipation.

The Brazilians face Esperance away next Wednesday. On July 1, they travel to Saint George, then host AS Vita a week later. - Online Sources
