Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco in January. The 21-year-old France midfielder will sign a five-year deal worth £250,000 a week. 

Manchester United are prepared to rival the Gunners in the chase for Lemar. Arsenal remain interested in Manchester City's 22-year-old England winger Raheem Sterling.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is targeting Tottenham's £60m-rated defender Toby Alderweireld, 28, as a long-term successor to Belgium team-mate Vincent Kompany, 31.

West Ham believe highly rated Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri is the man to replace manager Slaven Bilic.

Atletico Madrid sent a delegation of officials to meet Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia on Saturday in order to finalise the signing of striker Diego Costa, 28.

Spain international Costa has moved his family to Madrid to push through his transfer to Atletico. The player - who has not returned to the club and remains in Brazil - has still given no indication of a return to the Blues, despite being included in their Premier League squad.

Leicester City and Portugal midfielder Adrien Silva, 28, is training with his brother as he is not allowed to train with his new club following his move from Sporting Lisbon, after paperwork missed Fifa's deadline.
