Talent Chawapiwa: Baroka Wants R3 Million Plus for Winger

Johannesburg - Three PSL clubs reportedly chasing Zimbabwean winger Talent Chawapiwa must fork out R3 million or more, according to Baroka CEO Morgan Mammila.

According to media reports, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits have all been linked with the 26-year-old, who scored once goal in 29 appearances in all competitions for Bakgaga last season.

Chawapiwa was spotted during last year’s COSAFA Cup in the North West and Baroka were quick to snap him up.

He proved to be one of their star players in a season that started so well but ended with them avoiding the relegation play-offs on the final day of the campaign.

Even though Chawapiwa's contract with the Limpopo side will only expire in June 2020, the outspoken Mammila says as a club they are prepared to listen to offers for one of their most prized possessions.

"At the moment I have got nothing on my table. If offers come we will be willing [to listen]. We are talking from R3-5 million, " Mammila told KickOff.

Chawapiwa was part of Zimbabwe’s squad that beat Zambia in the final of the COSAFA Cup in Polokwane over the weekend. His career started in 2013 with capital club Harare City, where he remained until 2016 when he completed a transfer to ZPC Kariba after rejecting a new contract from Harare.

In early 2017, Chawapiwa joined Platinum. Seven months into the year, Chawapiwa left Zimbabwean football for the first time to join South African Premier Division side Baroka. He made his debut on 19 August in a league game against Polokwane City.

Chawapiwa scored his first professional goal on 29 October in a first round tie against Cape Town City in the 2017 Telkom Knockout. During his career, Chawapiwa has made 14 appearances and scored 3 goals for the Zimbabwe national team.
