Chris Brown: Three 'Rape Charges' in 8 Years

American music star Chris Brown was arrested in Paris on Monday after a 24-year-old woman accused the musician of raping her at the Mandarin Oriental hotel.

This is not the first time the talented musician has had a brush with the law over issues relating to women.

In in 2009, he was ordered to five years probation and community service after assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

In 2016, Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a woman told police that he had threatened her with a gun. However, his lawyer claimed that the charges had been fabricated.

According to Reuters, the Evening Standard, and the BBC, French officials said that Brown raped the woman after meeting her at a nightclub.

The Closer magazine initially broke the news, reporting that Brown invited the victim and other women back to his hotel.

The 24-year-old was then left alone with Brown in his suite, where the incident allegedly occurred. The woman claimed that Brown’s bodyguard and his friend also abused her and Brown, his friend, and the bodyguard have since been arrested.

"He is accused of a rape and is being held at the judicial police offices in the 1st arrondissement. He was arrested with two others on Monday, and interviews and other inquiries are ongoing.

"The offence is said to have taken place on the night of January 15 this year. According to AFP that Brown is also being questioned over a suspected drugs offence," a prosecuting source told the Evening Standard.
